More Than an Author: I Want to Leave a Legacy

Four months ago, I shared why I wrote Hannah's Heart Awakens. At that time, I was still preparing for the book to enter the world. I was carrying excitement, nervousness, hope, and a prayer that the story would reach the children who needed it most.

Now, as I look at how far God has brought me, I realize something even more deeply: I do not simply want to be known as an author. I want to leave a legacy.

Writing a children's book is a beautiful accomplishment, but for me, this journey has never been only about publishing. It has always been about purpose.

I want children to know that God is near. I want them to know they can talk to Him when they are afraid, confused, lonely, or unsure. I want them to learn that prayer does not have to sound perfect—it can be simple, honest, and spoken straight from the heart.

That is the legacy I want to leave. A legacy of faith. A legacy of prayer. A legacy that helps children recognize the love of Jesus early in life.

A Story Can Plant a Seed

Children may not remember every word they read, but they often remember how a story made them feel. They remember the character who helped them feel less alone. They remember the prayer that comforted them before bed. They remember the moment they realized that God listens to children too.

That is what I hope happens through Hannah. I pray that every story becomes a seed planted in a child's heart. Some seeds may grow immediately. Others may remain hidden for a season. But I believe that when God is involved, no seed of faith is ever wasted.

A child may close the book and continue thinking about Hannah's prayer. A parent may use the story to begin a conversation about Jesus. A family may decide to pray together for the first time. Those moments may seem small, but small moments can become part of a child's spiritual foundation.

Legacy Begins With Obedience

I have learned that legacy does not always begin with a large platform, a perfect plan, or thousands of followers. Sometimes it begins with one act of obedience. It begins when God places something on your heart and you decide to move forward, even when you do not know exactly how everything will work out.

There have been moments during this journey when I questioned myself. I wondered whether I was qualified. I wondered whether people would understand the vision. I wondered whether the story would truly make a difference.

But God continued to remind me that I did not have to know every step. I only had to trust Him with the next one.

Hannah's Heart Awakens began with a childhood memory, but God transformed that memory into something greater than I could have imagined. He gave the pain purpose. He gave the memory a message. He gave Hannah a voice to point children to Jesus.

More Than One Book

As Hannah Series Official continues to grow, my vision extends beyond one story. I see books that help children understand prayer, courage, identity, forgiveness, peace, and the love of God. I see bedtime prayers that help little hearts rest. I see devotionals that bring parents and children closer together. I see faith-based activities that make learning Scripture meaningful and enjoyable.

This is more than a book series to me. It is a ministry. It is a responsibility. It is an opportunity to pour truth into the next generation.

The world will offer children many messages about who they should be, what they should value, and where they should find their worth. I want Hannah Series Official to offer them a different message: Your worth comes from God. You are never alone. Your prayers matter. Jesus loves you.

What I Hope Remains

One day, my children's books may sit on a shelf beside many others. The pages may become worn from being read again and again. Children may grow older and move on to different stories. But my prayer is that the truth remains.

I hope they remember that there was a little girl named Hannah who learned to trust God. I hope they remember that prayer can change the atmosphere of a heart. I hope they remember that Jesus welcomed them before they ever understood everything about faith. Most of all, I hope they remember that God was never far away.

That is the legacy I want to leave. Not simply that Shaunta Scott wrote books. Not simply that Hannah Series Official became a successful brand. But that children were led closer to Jesus through stories, prayers, and simple moments of faith.

If one child learns to pray because of Hannah, it matters. If one parent feels encouraged to speak about God at home, it matters. If one frightened little heart finds peace, it matters.

That is why I will continue writing. That is why I will continue praying. And that is why I will continue trusting God with every page.

Because I am more than an author. I am planting seeds. I am building something for the next generation. I am leaving a legacy of faith—one story, one prayer, and one heart at a time.
